And a Happy New Year to All!
January showing good returns for our visiting anglers who are reaping the rewards of our stocking program - whilst there were a nice few trout caught from end of October leading up till the new year by our visitors taking advantage of our mildest winter here yet! - This month of January is really producing some lovely trout and were seeing a range of weights and quality fish with the vast majority of our anglers catching well on worm.
OCTOBER COMPETITION WINNER
Winner of our OCTOBER competition Mr Chris Wolfe of Mold who kept his nerve and landed a nice 3lb 4oz rainbow to complement his winning brace and fighting of stiff competition making for a great finish; each of the leading catches having a brace apiece.
Looking forward to our BOXING DAY COMP! see below

AUGUST 2011 UPDATE
Lakehill is currently breaking records here as we go through July and into the first week of August. A superb 12.01oz Rainbow taken by Mr. Phil Rogers from Upton, on worm, fishing from the west bank and taking a full 20 minutes to land single handed. A personal best for Mr. Rogers and a prize trout indeed. Night fishermen delighted with their full bags, night fishing producing some top quality angling these past few weeks again with record catches, please remember though, pre-booking is essential. Day fishing producing specimen trout, both rainbows and browns and we're seeing blues amongst the many full bag limits too. Fly, spinner or worm all productive and the weather really suiting the fishing here these past weeks. Unfortunately we had to eject three anglers from our fishery after checking bait and finding them to be using corn. We simply will not tolerate any rule breaking and remind our visitors it's worm only and not to be offended should we ask to check baits. Same goes for any litter bugs, please take your litter home with you or hand it to our staff who shall be only glad to dispose of it.
Lakehill is currently fishing as well or indeed better than ever as our catch records testify and its great to see the hard work being put into the fishery really showing.
We look forward to meeting our visitors both old and new as we move through August.

Show ImageAPRIL / MAY 2011 UPDATE
Lakehill has fished consistently well throughout the last weeks [ weather permitting ] and continues to do so. Our rigorous stocking program and fishery management, together with our cafe now being open keeping us busy and all the hard work showing great results as our regular and returning anglers can testify. Definitely worth a visit.
MARCH 2011 UPDATE
At last the warmer weather has arrived, along with the brown trout season further into this month of March. There are a large number of overwintered browns present, rainbows too; in addition to fresh stocked fish on a weekly basis. Clear water as ever and Lakehill of course being renowned for it's water clarity along with superb light levels. A particularly beautiful early morning, dead calm and misty with the sun burning through saw 10 lovely rainbows caught on a floating line by one particularly happy fisherman. Mr.Llywelyn from Chirk landing his best ever rainbow at 5lb.9oz and Mr.Rhys Jones from Corwen recording a bag of five rainbows to just under 14lb. fishing from the east bank, all falling to legered worm and among some of the most notable catches this month. The weather being now more suited to float tubing and great to see one of our regulars ' tubers ' returning for the first time this year and landing a lovely brace of rainbows within his first few casts! - although in all fairness and plain luck aside it's great to watch Mr. Edwards stalking the periphery, a skilled fisherman indeed. We would just like to remind our visiting anglers as we move into April that we will simply not tolerate any litter dropping whatsoever and are fully commited to keeping Lakehill as pristine as it's waters and every angler can expect to find our game fishery presented at it's best. Looking forward to April and seeing our regular and new visitors alike. A lot of hard work gone into Lakehill over the winter months and it shows
FEBRUARY 2011 UPDATE
Been really busy here getting the cafe just right for our visitors and it's ready.
Worm and spinner are both productive during the early weeks of this month with our intrepid visiting anglers braving the weather and catching plenty.
Trout feeling the change in temperature and moving around the lake with good fish being taken from all bank sides and in the shallow water near to shore mid month with the change in weather conditions.
An excellent display of fly casting late this month by one of our regulars, Mr. Rogers from Cheshire who managed to land and release a brace of rainbow to just under 6lb. in extremely testing weather conditions! - a cats whisker proving very successful giving a great bag and a memorable days fishing for some of the best fly casting seen here for some time!
During the milder weather we are seeing some rainbows being caught on floating lines and as we come to the end of February we are seeing the first signs of fly life at last!
March will bring warmer weather and it will be time to get your buzzers out. Expect Buzzers and Damsels to start taking lots of quality fish when fished on a floating line and long leader. As usual the water is crystal clear and big fish can be seen on the move ready for stalking.
Looking forward to seeing our regular and new visitors as we move into March!
JANUARY 2011 UPDATE
Lakehill clear of ice and again fully accessible.
Rainbow trout being caught by our visiting anglers in the first weeks of 2011 on both worm and spinner. Given that rainbow trout definitely thrive in fresh cold waters, the winter season here can be as productive as any. Mr. Rogers from Cilcain taking a fine rainbow of 2lb 10oz on a Fritz gold head and reporting that the trout are hitting hard!
We have returned this month to our intensive weekly stocking program, having stocked in the 2nd week and doing so mid week of the 3rd shall continue till further notice.
NOVEMBER / DECEMBER 2010 UPDATE
We are in the grip of the winter conditions here at the fishery as we enter Christmas week and would like to remind our visiting anglers that although we are OPEN as usual and we're here busy putting the final touches to our 'END OF THE LINE' CAFE, we advice visitors to ring Charlie firstly to check if the lake is fishable.
OCTOBER 2010 UPDATE
The mild weather holding out as we enter the last week of October and stocking again this week with super 3lb+ rainbows from our Halghton suppliers. Lakehill fishing as well as our regular returning anglers have now come to expect, and double figure trout have been caught and returned this month and bag limits produced to work, spinner and fly.
We have been busy getting out 'End of the Line' cafe 'just right' and are about to open, serving a great place to watch the lake, with food and drink to match the view.
SEPTEMBER 2010 UPDATE
An excellent catch and a fine display of fly fishing by Mr. Rob Finch of Cheshire resulting in a huge brown trout of 15lb.2oz. caught on a montana. Mr.Finch also having 3 nice rainbows to 6lb.2oz. making a great day here at Lake hill on 7/9/10.
Here we are in to the beginning of September and Lake Hill continues to fish exceptionally well, following on from the last fortnight of August which produced superb catch returns and delighted fishermen and women!
We continue to stock on a weekly basis with superb quality large rainbows and browns, inc. specimen brownies of 15lb. yes 15lb! and we do offer a free days ticket to any of our visiting anglers who catch and return safely any of the specimen double figure fish within Lake hill, which is as usual stocked to capacity, as we welcome anglers both regular and new throughout this month of Sept.
We are delighted to be meeting so many new faces and some excellent fly fishermen among them, who are hearing about how well Lake hill is fishing and coming along to see for themselves how Charlie and his team are realising the ambition of developing Lake hill into simply the best game fishery around. All the hard work is paying off as Lake hills reputation grows from strength to strength as our fishermen and woman will testify.
Well done to young Stuart [ 12 years old ] from Barmouth who came along with his family and landed a 4lb.9oz.rainbow himself! caught on a buzzer.
AUGUST 2010 UPDATE

JULY 2010 UPDATE
Lakehill fishing extremely well this month as our anglers will testify. Bag limits caught by just about every visiting angler. A splendid brown trout of 5lb 4oz being one of the best of many brownies landed during the 2nd week. The rain we have had seems to have really got the fish moving.
The 'End of the Line' cafe opening here at lakeside soon with top quality food and drink available.
New slipway being installed with full disabled access.
